ABOUT NYPOWER INDUSTRIES

A Little History

It all started in 1982, when Steve Nypower and a partner founded a small chemical manufacturing company called Sherwin Industries in Kelowna, British Columbia. They developed a number of cleaning formulations, some of which remain similar to Nypower products sold today.

After a few years, the partners went their separate ways. Steve moved the company to Calgary in 1985 and renamed it Nypower Industries Ltd.

In 2001, Steve moved the company again and built its own facility in scenic Okotoks, just south of Calgary.

Steve built a successful family-run business. His wife and sons all contributed to the company’s growth and success.

By 2004, Steve was preparing to retire and hoped that one of his distributors would purchase the company. That became a reality in 2006, when the present owner, Frank Meisl, purchased Nypower Industries.

Frank owned Gibraltar Maintenance Services, a large cleaning and maintenance company. He had purchased significant quantities of Nypower products and knew firsthand how well they performed. Frank was fond of saying, “I loved the products so much, I bought the company.”

After the purchase, Frank’s son-in-law Jason trained to run the operation. His son Josh became the key production and shipping person, while his daughter Adria managed the front office. For almost 13 years, the family helped grow the company through excellent customer service.

Eventually, the family members moved on to other ventures, leaving Frank as General Manager. Frank is now teamed with Production Manager Rick Monikowski, who brings extensive experience in chemical supply, production and distribution.
